The 'On Our Way' Back Story...
Barrie was inspired by Pink Floyd’s song Another Brick in the Wall - Part 2 We Don’t Need No Education, on their 1979 album The Wall.
His friend, Graham Broad, was the drummer for Roger Waters after the days of Pink Floyd.
Roger Waters toured The Wall and it was an absolutely amazing show.
On Our Way Lyrics
Chorus
Hey we’re on our way, we’re on our way, we don’t know where we’re going
Hey we’re on our way, we’re on our way, the wind of change is blowing
Na Na Na Na Na Na, Na Na Na Na Na, Na
Na Na Na Na Na Na, Na Na Na Na Na, Na
Verse 1
Teachers, Preachers making speeches we don’t understand
Why we do the things we do, why because we can
Call us irresponsible, the joker and the clown
We’re on our way up to the top and we ain’t coming down, coming down!
Chorus
Verse 2
Shooting stars across the skies burning in the night
Shooting stars are in our eyes turning to the light
Face the music win or lose it’s up to you no shame
Helter Skelter life has delt your hand, play the game
Play the game, play the game yeh yeh
Interlude
I won’t forget to remember you
You are always on my mind
The wonder years all our innocence
Broken hearts we left behind
Chorus repeats to fade out with ad libs
We’re on our way
Out take – verse never used
Find your mojo, wind your yoyo, dare to dream, dream on,
Drink your coffee while it’s hot, before the cream has gone,
Today’s tomorrow’s yesterday, we’re sinking in the sand,
Do the dance, don’t screw the chance, the future’s in your hands, in your hands!
Out take – part verse never used
Education is masturbation, screwing up my mind
Teachers Preachers, four eyed creatures
Stick it where the sun don’t shine
